Custom Designed Table Lamp

 

The client was a fellow architecture enthisiast who wanted to use a table lamp as present for someone they look up to.

 

The design is based on a premise that 'in a multitude of individuals, only one stands out'. This is expressed by using a minuture city block of several building that share the same aesthetic, with a majestic towering building in the center of the block providing the light source; As if to suggest that the the person to whom the present is meant, is 'a guiding light', like a light house in the distance seen from an ocean of grey.

 

The base and the buildings a made from hand carved MDF board, treated and spray painted. The towering 'light' building is made from thick triplex boards with perspex windows (for light penetration), with a low voltage energy saving florescent light source.
